$5.8 million Congressional Directed Spending earmark for a critical pipelining project in Marine City

Earlier this year, the City submitted a request for $9.7 million in infrastructure assistance, representing roughly one-third of our overall need. During the process, we were asked to revise the proposal to better align with similar projects. Throughout that effort, we remained focused on clearly communicating the scope and urgency of Marine City’s infrastructure needs. We are especially grateful to Representative Lisa McClain and her team for their support and understanding of this project. Her office, including Muhammed Smidi, was responsive and engaged throughout the process. This level of advocacy made a meaningful difference for our community, and we sincerely appreciate their efforts. These funds will allow the City to rehabilitate some of the most critical sanitary and storm sewer infrastructure through cleaning and epoxy lining. This work is expected to extend the useful life of these systems by approximately 12–15 years, helping us stabilize infrastructure conditions while allowing the City to strategically plan for long-term replacement and other priorities. Notably, this award is among the highest provided across multiple communities. We also want to congratulate our neighbors in Cottrellville and Algonac, who received funding as well. Regional collaboration continues to be key as we work together to address shared infrastructure challenges. The official announcement letter is attached, and additional details can be found here: https://mcclain.house.gov/fy27-cpf-requests View Attachment
